TENNIS KICKS OFF THE SPRING SEASON WITH STRONG SHOWING

Tennis Kicks off the Spring Season with Strong Showing
The tennis team kicked off the spring with strong shows at the JV and varsity Brazosport tournaments this past week.


On Tuesday, the JV mixed doubles team of Justin Antonio and Kai Spence dominated the whole day. They ended up taking 1st place with an 8-1 win in the finals. The doubles team of Lawson Rees and James Venzant won consolation. The freshman doubles brothers, Jack and Archer McDonald ended 4th in their first high school tournament. Clara Douglas and Abby Reyes took 3rd in girls doubles and the mixed team of Edwin Rodriguez and Victoria Miranda brought home 3rd place in mixed doubles.


On Friday, 11 varsity players came home with medals. Analiese Rosales-Morales won 1st in girls singles only dropping 2 games (6-0, 6-2) in the finals. The boys doubles team of Sawyer Farroni and Kylan Galloway also dominated their bracket winning 1st with a 6-3, 6-1 finals victory. In the A boys doubles bracket, Shawn Han and Thuc Ngo won 2nd place after a very close 10-12 tiebreaker match in the finals. Sophomore Nolan Hernandez also earned 2nd place after a tough 8-10 result in his singles finals tiebreaker. Claire Jobe only lost two games in her first three matches before finishing the day with 2nd. Logan Leimer and Kendal Dearmon won 2nd place while mixed teammates Luke Leimer and Madison Gaido won 3rd at the same time on courts right next to each together.
